Anuga 2017

One logistics partner for all temperature ranges

Anuga, the world's largest and most important trade fair for food and beverages, will open its doors again in Cologne from 7 to 11 October. For decades now, the Nagel-Group has exhibited at Anuga with its own stand. Following its acquisition of the frozen logistics specialist Transthermos last year, the Nagel-Group will be exhibiting for the first and only time at the trade show "Frozen Food" (Hall 04.2 Stand E061).

More than 500 million people in Europe have to be supplied with fresh food daily. The Nagel-Group contributes to this, and that too in all temperature ranges — from -18°C to +21°C. The Nagel-Group took over the frozen logistics specialist Transthermos last year to expand its existing competencies, especially in the future-orientated frozen sector. As a result, the Nagel-Group offers the most dense network for frozen and chilled transports in Germany.

At its stand which covers an area of 110 square metres, the Nagel-Group will use Anuga 2017 to showcase its competencies in all temperature ranges. The visitors will get the opportunity to enter the world of the Nagel-Group. For instance, the Nagel-Group warehouse in Schweitenkirchen near Munich can be explored using virtual reality goggles. Pepper, a robot which can be controlled using a touchpad, will welcome the visitors at the stand.

The Nagel-Group offers its services in five temperature ranges.

  • Frozen: -18°C or colder — ice cream, frozen vegetables, bakery products, ready-meals
  • Ultra Fresh: 0 to +4°C — fish, poultry, Brie, fresh milk, fresh fruit & vegetables
  • Chilled: +4 to +7°C — dairy products, meat, sausages, poultry
  • Ambient: +14 to +21°C — chocolate, cakes and pastries, snacks, oils, fats, beverages
  • Dry: >0°C and depending on customer requirement — canned food, long-life bakery products

This unique and comprehensive temperature portfolio makes it possible to meet individual customer requirements along the supply chain from retail and industry. As the Nagel-Group has an extensive network, it is in a position to react flexibly to volatile requests and fulfil the ever-changing requirements of its customers. This applies to both warehousing and transport.

Multi-temperature, multi-compartment vehicles allow loading of foodstuffs with different temperature ranges onto a single truck. This ensures efficient distribution of goods since two different trucks are not needed to deliver products with different temperature ranges which are headed for the same destination.

Certain values have to be strictly maintained for all temperature classes in order to ensure high quality of goods during storage, picking, while performing other value added services, and also from the time of loading until unloading. Ultimately, this leads to a reduction not only in the number of contact persons and contacts at the loading bay when delivering the consignments, but also helps in pooling synergies during delivery.

IT systems designed specifically for the food market ensure that the planning and processing of the transport of products can be carried out smoothly. As such, customers have the opportunity to track their goods and at the same time check whether they are properly refrigerated. The analysis of the consignment data provides valuable information, thereby continuously improving the supply chain processes.
